As Fiji proudly celebrates Fiji Day, One Nation Our People (ONOP) took a unique and inspiring step to honor our nationโ€”not just with flags and festivities, but through meaningful action.

Led by our dedicated youth group, ONOP organized a patriotic clean-up at Saweni and Lomolomo Beach in Lautoka. More than just a community service event, this initiative was a heartfelt tribute to Fijiโ€™s legacy of environmental stewardship and its role as a global advocate for climate action.

โ€œItโ€™s not just an act of patriotism, but a tribute to the environmental leadership of our former leaders,โ€
โ€“ Abdul Zorahab, ONOP President

Under the guidance of Mr. Zorahab, the clean-up highlighted the vital link between civic pride and ecological responsibility. With plastic pollution threatening our coastlines and marine life, ONOPโ€™s initiative encouraged young Fijians to take ownership of their environment.

Why It Matters

Fiji has been a strong voice on the international stage in the fight against climate change. From championing ocean health to advocating for vulnerable island nations, our countryโ€™s leadership has made waves globally. But true change begins at homeโ€”with each beach cleaned, with each piece of litter removed, we reinforce our collective commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

โ€œBy cleaning the beach, we are not only tackling pollution but also educating the young generation about ecosystems and conservation,โ€
โ€“ Abdul Zorahab, ONOP President

Youth Leading the Way

The ONOP youth groupโ€™s involvement showcases the power of youth-led initiatives in creating long-lasting impact. Their energy, commitment, and love for the environment turned a national holiday into a day of purpose.

Through this symbolic act, ONOP sends a powerful message: patriotism means protecting our paradise.

Highlights from the Day

Our volunteers worked tirelessly, collecting bags of trash, engaging in environmental discussions, and fostering a sense of unity among community members. The teamwork and smiles shared reminded us that small actions, when united, can drive great change.
